Devil's Bridge Hike

A Guide To Getting to and hiking Devil's Bridge

Difficulty - 4/10

Distance - 5.8 Miles / 9.3km

Elevation - 152m / 500ft

Time - 2 - 3hrs

Directions

Getting to the hike there are 2 Trailheads, the main parking lot being Vista Creek parking lot. This parking lot is free but gets crowded quick so unless you are here at 7am then odds are your hike could be more of a 5 mile hike cause the overflow parking park along the road. "Chuck Wagon Trail, Sedona, AZ 86336, United States"

The other parking lot is Mescal trailhead parking. If you park here you need to purchase a red rock pass to park.

What To Expect

This hike is located in Coconino National Forest, the trail is very well marked and easy to follow. If you park at the Vista trailhead there are 2 options to complete the hike. The 5.8 mile round trip which is more scenic and the 4.2 mile option.

For the scenic option you will go from the Chuckwagon Trail to the Devil’s Bridge Trail from Dry Canyon Road (5.8 miles round trip).

For option 2 you will follow the 4x4 road till you reach the junction bringing where there is a sign clearly marking the Devils bridge trail.

Much of the Devil’s Bridge Trail consists of a gradual climb along a wide, well-maintained route that features a few rocky ledges. But when you get about three-fourths of the way to the top, you will begin to encounter steeper terrain.

On the final ascent to the bridge, you will need to climb two steep and uneven sets of rock stairs. The staircases are short, and most hikers have no problem with them.

From this point on you will reach the 54 foot tall bridge. It is 5 ft wide at its thinest spot. If you are looking to get your picture on the bridge I'd recommend going early or you will have to wait in line for a picture. Fortunetly for me I went the morning that it snowed and it was relatively quiet.

All and all Devils Bridge is one of the best hikes in Sedona (in my opinion). Its non technical, short, easy to follow and has beautiful views of the Famous Red Rocks and an increadible bridge feature!
